Part 0. Introduction

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, a few people said I should make a pet FAQ.
I knew there was already one here on Game FAQs, but it
seems like it hasn't been updated for a while, especially
with so many new pets now on Maple Story. Being the
obsessed girl that I am, I buy every single pet that comes
out, thus letting me see all their commands and how much their
closeness goes up. While I'd be lying if I said it's easy to
get their closeness up and train all these pets, it really is
fun and gives you quite a bit of variety. I hope this helps
people train their pets more and enjoy them more as well.
This Pet FAQ is sponsored by my new guild, PetPalace
on Scania :D Remember, you're welcome to whisper
"Jenemi" to join as I'd be happy to invite you (If I'm
on of course!) XD
______________________________
Part I. Updates
12/13/2007 - New pet! I've added what
I know for now and as always, I'll keep
you updated! ^_^
11/27/2007 - Added Level 20 Turkey closeness!
11/20/2007 - Added some sassy new items
held by the Grim Reaper :P
11/15/2007 - Updated the FAQs a bit ^_^
Also added several new pet equips, the
Porcupine's special food, and the
level 10 closeness amounts for the
Porcupine! I'll now be working on
level 20/21 closeness amounts
for all.
11/12/2007 - Well,
Nexon messed up
and Cloy listed
a lot of the Porcupine's
commands together...
however, several of them
ARE different. I have edited
the list encountering for this
and I'm sorry for the lateness
upon it. Hopefully Nexon
will fix this too. Also, if
you noticed the above, I have
added my MS username along
with info on my new Guild,
PetPalace, so if you're in
Scania, feel free to send me
a whisper and ask to join ^-^
11/10/2007: Commands
and info on the TCG
pets added ^_^
11/9/2007: Hey guys!
I've updated the permission
section as more people have
asked to use my FAQ ^-^ Which
is truly an honor. Please, if
you'd like to use it, just send
me an e-mail! I'll most likely
give you permission :3 Unless
it's like a porn site >_> Because
then I'd be disturbed... or...yeah.
Moving on, I hit level 70 today!
...Yes, I know this isn't pet related
but I feel so proud of myself, I'm
listing it in an update T~T Anyway,
back to pet related things, I will
hopefully be getting a Porcupine
soon and will update everything
accordingly. For those wondering why
The Blue Husky and Black Bunny's food
is blank when it should be the same,
supposably at the moment, it doesn't
work for them and they're not listed,
so if/when that changes, I'll be sure
to add it! Thanks again for everybody
who sends those nice e-mails ^-^ I
luff you all platonically :D And
I'm hoping to save up mesos to make
a nice Pets Guild on Scania soon, so
if you're interested, just send
me an e-mail ^_^
11/8/2007: Rudolph
closeness amounts
for level 11 FINALLY
added!
11/7/2007 - Added
exact name of the
new Husky.
11/6/2007 (again) -
Added Black Bunny and
the other Husky which
are also TCG only
prizes.
11/6/2007 - Some
Porcupine info
added along
with the Monkey's
new CS equip item.
10/24/2007 - Added a
guitar! Sorry for the
lateness. Also, I'll
be in Japan from the
28th-Nov. 8th, so
I won't be able to
give super specific
updates during that
time~ Gomen nasai!
To make up for it,
I've also added a
new FAQ question!
10/11/2007 - A new pet.
Took long enough. So,
Jr. Reaper has been
added.
9/14/2007 - For some
reason the pet
chat ring was cut
out so I've re-added
it. Sorry it took
so long! I also
added an FAQ
question about
the "Cat on a
Pillow" as to
explain that it is NOT
a pet.
8/22/2007 - Pet rings
have been added~
New FAQ question added
as well.
8/14/2007 - New items
added!
8/1/2007 - Tons of random
updates here and there~
7/27/2007 - Grown Dragon's
descriptions added ^_^
7/26/2007 - New Dragon pets!
These are evolving pets
and thus, make them very
special! Check out the FAQ
and pet section for more
information!
7/12/2007 - Added some minor
information on the awesomeness
of Prince Pepe when equipped
to the Yeti. And a new FAQ
question.
6/22/2007 - Prince Pepe and HP
Potion added to Cash Shop items
for pets. Sorry for lateness!
I was on vacation in Disney ^^;
5/23/2007 - Rest of Jr. Balrog
information has been added. Enjoy
everybody! :D Hope to find out
the later commands ASAP. Sorry
that this update is late, but
it seems Nexon's server check
is after the page update. Even
though some info could be
seen on the main page, I wanted
to wait for me to have everything
done so I wouldn't send two updates
in a day @-@
5/22/2007 - Some Jr. Balrog information
added along with his guide to the item
list. Also, I'd like to remind people
to PLEASE submit information on pets'
commands that I do not have how much
closeness it gives yet. I haven't
been playing Maple Story much due to
issues with people and I really don't
have time to spend on my pets or $300
to get them to level 30 XP
4/25/2007 - All Mini Yeti information added.
4/22/2007 - Added some information on the
Mini Yeti and added his guide to the
items list.
3/28/2007 - Added rest of information for the
Robot. Also edited the Guide items due to them
being fixed a bit and stuff @-@ Plus, a site
that has my permission to use this FAQ! Also
added information for the pet AP scroll in
items and the FAQs.
3/27/2007 - Added the Pet Command Guides to items and
the robot to pets. More Robot information will come
tomorrow when the patch is finished.
3/4/2007 - Added the exact questions and answers ^-^
Added some new questions too :3 And closeness for
Rudolph's and Panda's level 20+/21+ commands.
2/27/2007 - Made the FAQ! XD
Part II. FAQs
1. What are pets?
Pets are cute little animals that can follow your MS character around
and do "tricks" to say the least. You can also buy items for them
to pick up your mesos and items, and even dress them up. And at later
levels, they can even say what you want them to.
2. What are the items so they can pick up my stuff?
The Mesos Magnet lets your pets pick up Mesos and the Item Pouch lets
your pets pick up items. For more information, see the item section.
3. WHY would I want to dress my pets up?
Well, you can scroll their items to give you speed or jump boosts.
Each of their items have 5 or 7 slots.
4. Scrolls? What kind of scrolls?
Just speed and jump. It'll be 10%, 60%, or 100% and they will say Pet
scroll in the title, so don't get scammed!
5. Okay, I can make my pet talk? How? When?
Well, your pet starts talking at level 10, atleast, most pets. Some pets won't
talk until level 11, like the Gold Pig and Rudolph. However, all pets can be
made to say what you want at level 15 by using "/Pet " then typing whatever
you want. Similar to /find or /trade or any of the other commands.
6. Why do some pets need higher levels then others to get their commands?
Probably because the pet is more "special". I don't see the point, however.
7. My pet is taking too long to do commands! Is there any way to go faster?
Try waiting a minute or so. If it still doesn't work, try using the bad
command.
8. Is there any OTHER ways to get my pet's closeness up besides having it do
tricks?
When it's hungry, feed it. The food you can get from Doofus (Or if in Ludi,
Patricia, the bear) costs 30 mesos (25 mesos from Patricia) and cures 30
hunger. Sometimes, the closeness will go up after it's fed. You can also
do the pet jump quests in the Henesys Pet Park and the Ludibrium Pet park.
Henesys Pet Park gets +2 closeness upon completion while Ludibrium Pet Park
gets you +4 upon completion.The final way to get closeness up without tricks
is buying their special food from the cash shop which gives 100 closeness.
9. Where are the Pet Parks?
The first is in Henesys in Maple Park. Press up on the Kitty Statue next
to Cloy then press up again. For Ludibrium, it's the portal behind
Patricia, the teddybear, selling Pet food.
10. Do levels do anything?
Other then get your pet new tricks...No.
11. What are special foods?
They are the special food you can buy in the cash shop for 100 closeness.
12. Do Pets die?
Not exactly...they turn into stuffed animals and can no longer be
used after 3 months.
13. Can I make them live again?
Yes. You can revive them.
14. How?
See the revive section for more information.
15. Will my pet keep it's stats and name and stuff if I revive it?
Yes! Your pet will ALWAYS keep all of that. It even has the same
hunger level if it dies.
16. Is there any way for a pet's closeness to go down?
If you feed it when it's full or let it get to 0 hunger, it's
closeness might go down. You can also remove a pet's
closeness with an AP scroll to another pet. (Only if
the other pet has lower closeness then the one
who you are taking the closeness from).
17. Can I put my pet back in my inventory and have no pet
out while I go AFK?
Yep! Just double click it like how you put it on.
18. Can you rename your pet?
Yes, but you need to buy another name tag to do so.
19. Will the mesos magnet and item pouch let my pet pick up
my party's items too?
Nope, only yours.
20. Can I have multiple pets?
Yes! You can have as many as you want. You can only have one
at a time, but the name will stay with the pet you give
it to. You will have to buy name tags for each one
to give them all names, however equips are shared.
Use items are not. I have every single pet so far and buy
every single one that comes out, so I should know :P And no
you can't have more then one pet out at a time T_T
21. So that means I can't transfer my old pet's stats?
Nooope. You'll have to level your new one all over. Or
you can buy an AP Scroll for 250K from Cloy to transfer
an old pets stats (it can be dead) to a new one.
22. What items can my pet wear at once?
It can wear one equip and then one of each of the
character-help equips (Mesos Magnet, Item Pouch, MP
Potion, HP Potion, etc.). That's it.
23. Hey! I scrolled a PERFECT pet equip! When it expires
will I have to re-scroll a new one?
Sadly, yes. You'll have to rescroll a new perfect equip.
24. My pet is a doll...I can't revive it for a while...
It won't disappear, right?
Nope! Your doll will be there forever.
25. Okay, I bought a Pet AP Scroll from Cloy. Now what?
Go see Mar. She'll handle it from there.
26. Exactly what is the pet AP scroll for? What does
it do and stuff?
Okay, please pay close attention before using it as
this may not be exactly what you want. If you're
thinking you can take closeness from one of your
pets and add it in addition to another's pet, you're
completely wrong. What the scroll does is whatever
number the pet you took the closeness from becomes
the number of closeness the pet you gave it to has.
For example, let's say your Kitty has 900 closeness.
You want to give it to your Husky who has 500
closeness. He will not have 1,400 closeness after
the change. Instead, he'll have 900 closeness.
The other 500 just vanishing. I don't think this
is a glitch, hwever, I think the description
from both Mar and the scroll can be misleading.
27. If it doesn't add closeness to my pet, what
the heck is it good for?
Well, let's say you have a kitty with 1,000
closeness which you got because it was your
favorite at the time. Then, a new pet comes out
that you've been waiting for/really want. You
can use the scroll to give your new pet that
1,000 closeness from your old kitty, whether
it's a doll or alive. Thus, your new pet
has your pets old stats and you don't have
to train it all over again.
28. Exactly, what are pet skills?
Well, you know the Mesos Magnet and
stuff like that? Pet Skills let you buy
a scroll for about 10K or so that will
give your pet permanently the skill
instead of buying the same items over
and over again. Sadly, Maple Global
doesn't have them yet and we don't
know if they ever will =(
29. Is there anything else I can do with my
pet when it hits level 15 other than the
whole /pet command?
Well, there is one thing. If you go to the
museum in Aqua Road and talk to Kenta after
doing her first pet quest, she'll give your
pet some kind of skill. She says it'll walk
behind your every step now, though, I don't
see a difference. I don't think my pet's
closeness went up either. However, you can
only do this quest when your pet is level 15
or higher and you can do it as many times
as you want.
30. Well, the trail of ducks you can
have follow you with a Cash Shop item
and the monster hats you can buy...Are
those considered pets?
No, no, and no. Nothing you can get
that is out of the "Pets" part
of the pet tab will act like a pet.
It's just an accessory and/or
an effect. Same goes for any
pet-like pet equips. The only
difference is for the Prince
Pepe which while it isn't a pet
on it's own, it's like a pet
for your Yeti and reacts with it.
31. What's an evolving pet?
It's a pet that "grows up" at a
ceartain time. The egg will hatch
once you double click it in your
cash shop inventory part and take
it out in the game and when your
baby dragon hits level 15, you
may evolve it into a bigger
grown dragon.
32. How many different baby
dragons are there?
There's only one.
33. How many different adult
dragons are there?
Four. Red, Black, Blue,
and Green. Black is the
rarest.
34. Is there anyway I can pick
which I want?
Nope. Sadly, it's random :(
35. Is there a difference
between the dragons?
All the dragons have somewhat
different reactions to commands
along with their standby poses
being somewhat different.
36. How does it evolve?
You have to buy it a
Rock of Evolution and
use it once the Baby Dragon
hits level 15 by going
to Garnox and doing his
quest.
37. Where IS Garnox?
In New Leaf City, by the
Eiffel Tower all the way
to the right.
38. What do I need for
Garnox's quest?
The Rock of Evolution,
a baby dragon at level
15, 50 Lupin Bananas,
and 50 Cold Eye Tails.
39. I don't like the
color I got! Can I do
it again?
Yep, just buy another
Rock of Evolution from
the Cash Shop. You do
not need more Lupin
Bananas and/or Cold
Eye Tails.
40. I decided to get
another dragon and
level it up to evolve
it. So, do I need to
re-do the quest?
Like with changing the
color only, you just
need the rock. You do
not need the Bananas
or Tails.
41. What does the Magic
Scales item do exactly?
It picks up any items
that are going to expire
soon that are free for
taking. So if it becomes
time that ANYBODY can get
the item, your pet will
get it with this item,
allowing you to pick up
team mates and random
people's eventually.
It only works though
depending on which
item you have (mesos
magnet or item pouch).
Obivously, if you have
just the mesos magnet,
it'll only get mesos.
If you have the item
pouch, it'll only get
items. If you have
both, it'll get
both.
42. Is there a quick
way to get a baby dragon
to level 15 to evolve?
If you have a level 15+
pet, you may use an AP
scroll to switch the
stats to a dragon
and keep going until you
have the color you want
or multiple dragons
with all the colors and
whatnot. However,
a grown dragon doesn't
have any commands until
level 15 so if you do this
you won't be able to get
it's closeness up unless
you do the jump quests,
get lucky when feeding it,
or feed the dragon it's
special food.
43. Hey! I bought that
thing that lets my pet
move itself to pick stuff
up! Why isn't it?!
It will only do so if you
are standing still. You
may also be too far away.
44. Why do only some pets
work with the equip ring?
Because in the original
version, only ceartain
pets had special ring
borders. They originally
came with the pet, but
didn't in this version.
Instead we get rings to
get their effect back.
45. Is the ring like
the name tag?
Nope, while it goes
around the name, it
automatically switches
with the pet like an
equip.
46. Does only one
dragon have a special
border/chat box?
Nope! They all have
it. Each one is
different too :3
47. OMG! IS THE KITTY/
My Buddy Max a pet?!
IT'S SO CUTE!
Sadly, no. You may buy
it and have it out
with your other pets.
It'll move with you
and stuff, but it
won't do tricks, you
can't name it. And
while it "attacks"
it's only because
it covers your
weapon. You may
have both a pet
and the "Kitty"/"My
Buddy Max" out though.
48. Why do some items
have 5 slots and others
have 7?
While I can't give you
a specific reason, as it's
the game people's choice...
Any item that can be worn
by all pets (Ie: Ribbon) will
have 5 slots. Any item that
can only be worn by one pet
will have 7 slots (Ie: Prince
Pepe).
Part VI. Reviving Pets
Now, what happens if a pet dies, you ask? Well, it's fairly
simple. There are two ways you can go around
reviving your pet...:
A. The Ellinia-Henesys way.
---1. Go talk to Mar the Fairy in Ellinia by pressing
up at the flower (The top, not the stem) at the bottom
right side of Ellinia.
---2. After you finish talking to her, buy Water of
Life from the Cash Shop (2,400 NX Cash), then head to Henesys.
---3. At Henesys, head to Pet Park. Get there by going to the
Park, then pressing up on the Kitty statue next to Cloy,
then press up again. Head all the way left and talk to
Trainer Bartos. Click the second option about Mar and answer
his questions. They're fairly simple.
---4. Questions and Answers:
-----a. Q: Which town is Doofus, the person selling Pet
--------Food, from? A: Henesys
-----b. Q: Out of these people, choose the person who has
--------nothing to do with the pets. A: Maya
-----c. Q: Out of each of these descriptions about the
--------pets, choose the one that does not make sense!
--------A: Pets can attack the monster with its master.
-----d. Q: Well, on what level do pets start using
--------human phrases? A: Level 10
-----e. Q: Doofus from Henesys sells Pet Food. How much
--------fullness level does pet it raise? A. 30
---5. After you get the life scroll, head back to Mar,
talk to her, and she'll revive the pet you pick.
B. The Ludibrium way.
---1. Go to the map where the tower is all the way left.
---2. You'll see a fairy named Wisp. Talk to her and
click the first choice.
---3. Again, buy the water of life from the cash shop
(2,400 NX Cash), then head back a map.
---4. Go into the house to the right of the double
decker house where you can make gloves and shoes.
---5. Double click the scroll on the floor that has
the words "Document Roll" under it.
---6. Now that you have the life scroll, head back to
Wisp, talk to her, and she'll revive the pet you pick.
