A Guide For Fighers

So, Just What Is Here, Anyway?

1. Class Overview

--- Just what is a Fighter, and what can they do?

2. AP Guide

--- Confused? Learn where to spend your AP.

3. SP Guide

--- Confused AGAIN? How about Skills help?

4. Training Guide

--- Oh don't -- Okay, fine. Here's help with training areas.

5. Weapons

--- So what should I choose? Sword, or Axe?

6. Weapon Comparisons

--- A bit more in-depth comparison, including individual weapon stats.

7. Questions

--- MORE QUESTIONS? *sigh* whatever. This is just some random things I threw in.

Class Overview

Fighters apparently specialize in high damage to single targets. They have the highest base MaxHP and the lowest base MaxMP out of all warriors. They gain the skills to use Swords and Axes effectively. At the 3rd job, they gain powerful single target attacks (Combo Attack, plus its finisher attacks Panic and Coma), but their multi-target skill (Shout) doesn't seem to be all that good in terms of pure power. They also get Improving MP Recovery, Shield Mastery (improves shield defense) and Armor Crush (removes an enemy's Guard Up skill)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

AP Guide

Well, distributing Warrior AP is really simple... it's just that people make it harder than it really is. See, unlike all other classes, Warriors only have one required stat. Strength. It's also the main factor in damage. Now, since they only have one required stat, of course there's a catch. Dexterity or Luck is required, or you'll have next to no accuracy. All the damage in the world doesn't matter if you can't hit a Green Mushroom at level 30. Now, Dexterity is obviously the preferred choice, since it adds more Accuracy than Luck and also gives a small damage boost.

Personally, my idea is to do (0.4*MaxDmg)+(0.6*MinDmg) for a number slightly lower than your average damage. Then, look for a monster whose HP is around that number or a little lower. If you have enough Accuracy to hit it 100% of the time, you're good. If it's a monster you can mass kill with Slash Blast, average damage equal to 40-50% is okay, but remember that constant usage of SB can quickly burn potions, especially at lower levels. Don't forget to apply any modifiers from skills you're using and take monster defense into account if you actually take this advice.

>>>NOTE: guidelines to STR and DEX assume perfect 4/4 INT/LUK stats.

A guideline to Strength. Try to have this much or more, since you need that much to equip equipment.

SP Guide

This is a guideline on how to raise your skills. It doesn't have to be done exactly this way, although I feel that it is a good build. However, because there are just so many ways to do 2nd Job Skills, there is a section talking about those skills and what they are good for to help you decide which skills you would like first.

Improving HP Recovery

Well, this skill saves a lot of potions... at least, in the beginning, when enemies do 5 damage or so. Really, it's useless later on. Raise to level 5 to unlock Improving MaxHP Increase and leave it like that unless you have extra points.

Improving MaxHP Increase

This skill should be the second to get points and the first to max, as it adds to your MaxHP any time you level or add AP to HP. Of course, you should never add to HP, but the bonus at level up will be quite a lot.

Endure

Allows you to regenerate hanging on ropes. This is an amazingly useless skill, as you should never be caught in such a situation where you MUST regen on a rope/ladder. Use to unlock Iron Body.

Iron Body

Adds Weapon Defense. OMG wonderful you can get like -16 damage each hit at max. Can cancel out reduced defense from Rage if you're a perfectionist.

Power Strike

Simple, plain, useful. Boosted single-target damage with low MP cost. Your main attack skill from 30 - forever unless we get something new in 4th job sometime next century.

Slash Blast

Also simple, plain, and useful -- the only first job multi-target attack. Drains HP/MP, and so can also be a real drain on the potions early on.

This is the skills build that I originally favored.

This build goes straight for attacking skills, so you can get through the first 30 levels quickly.

Here is an Iron Body build based off icyfire's guide, thanks to raedrik, showing exactly how to add your SP all the way up to level 70. I have taken the liberty of correcting the error at levels 68-70 as well as a bit of other clean-up.

20/10 Power Strike

10/20 Slash Blast

You can choose PS or SB to level first, the other will be maxed early in Fighter job.

Now for the Fighter skill allocation:

Level 33 - 3 Sword/Axe Mastery

Level 67 - 3 Final Attack: Sword/Axe

Level 68 - 2 Final Attack: Sword/Axe, 1 Iron Body

Level 69 - 3 Iron Body

Level 70 - 3 Iron Body

So this leaves a grand total of these skills:

5 - Improving HP Recovery

10 - Improving MaxHP Increase

3 - Endure

20 - Iron Body

20 - Power Strike

20 - Slash Blast

19 - Sword/Axe Mastery

30 - Final Attack: Sword/Axe

6 - Sword/Axe Booster

19 - Rage

30 - Power Guard

This build has the same offensive capabilities as others later in the game, but also has the benefit of maxed Iron Body. Mastery and Rage do not get any real benefits at 20 and Booster is just as effective at 6 than 20 (just not as MP efficient). You can raise Fury, Final Attack, and Power Guard in a different order if you prefer.

And here is psyber's "Balanced Fighter Skills Guide".

Warrior:

1 HP Recovery

3 HP Recovery (4)

1 HP Recovery (5) & 2 Max HP (2)

3 Max HP (5)

3 Max HP (8)

2 Max HP (10) & 1 Power Strike (1) [woot, finally an offensive skill]

3 Power Strike (4)

3 Power Strike (7)

3 Power Strike (10)

1 Endure (1) & 2 Slash Blast (2) [finally the other skill]

3 Slash Blast (4)

3 Slash Blast (7)

3 Slash Blast (10)

Save SP for 4 levels[should be quite easy, considering your HP], and:

10 Slash Blast (20) OR 10 Power Strike (20) [i would recommend slashblast, as power strike is quite crappy at lower levels, when your profits is not covering mana pot costs, slashblast always seemed to be the more lucrative alternative]

Then save SP for another 3 levels, and:

10 Power Strike (20) OR Slash Blast (20) [depending on which you maxed first]

So now you've maxed out both offensive skills and are left with 5SP.

You may choose to get Endure up to 3, and get 3 Iron Body. But I realised I was going Fighter and I'll be getting Power Guard anyway so to hell with IB. So I put the remaining 5SP into HP Recovery, which is more practical.

For Fighter, I chose this route:

1 Mastery (1) [duh, as they say... Max mastery first]

3 Mastery (4)

3 Mastery (7)

3 Mastery (10)

3 Mastery (13)

3 Mastery (16)

3 Mastery (19)

3 Final Attack (3) [okay, in real fact, that 1FA can be put anywhen in when bringing your mastery up, but I seriously suggest you to add it in only after 19 Mastery, as 2% is seriously crap. I was one who put in 1FA early, and i realised I'd be better off with mastery >.<] [oh yea, the last point in mastery is redundant, its only adds one accuracy]

3 Final Attack (6)

3 Final Attack (9)

3 Final Attack (12)

3 Final Attack (15)

3 Final Attack (18)

3 Final Attack (21)

3 Final Attack (24)

3 Final Attack (27)

3 Final Attack (30)

3 Rage (3) [okay, again that rage point can be put anywhen in you like, some people like higher damage, its all preference.] [by the way booster is redundant as most probably you'll be using a highlander or a zard. but you can add around 5 points if you like, but I'll be adding it last]

3 Power Guard (3) [woot finally the elite skill we're waiting for. You should be able to handle Dark Stone Golems now.]

3 Power Guard (6)

3 Power Guard (9)

3 Power Guard (12)

3 Power Guard (15)

3 Power Guard (18)

3 Power Guard (21)

3 Power Guard (24)

3 Power Guard (27)

3 Power Guard (30)

3 Rage (6)

3 Rage (9)

3 Rage (12)

3 Rage (15)

3 Rage (18)

2 Rage (20) & 1 Booster (1)

3 Booster (4)

3 Booster (7)

3 Booster (10)

3 Booster (13)

3 Booster (16)

3 Booster (19)

1 Booster (20) & 1 Mastery (20)

1 point left. Spend it on however you want. But I suggest using it on HP Recovery or Endure.

2nd Job Skills Guide

After you get your 2nd Job Advancement, there are many skills that are all important. Depending on the way you play, you will probably want to select skills in a different order.

Mastery

This should be raised to level 19 or 20 before you start bringing up any other skills. The increased minimum damage and accuracy is very important.

Final Attack

This is a good choice if you like to fight powerful monsters with Power Strike. It lets you land a powerful attack without using any MP. However, it can hurt you if you don't know how to use it. Because a Final Attack takes less time to use than a normal attack, it may hit the enemy before it recovers from the first knockback. This results in a failure to knockback the enemy with the Final Attack, even if you do sufficient damage. Against slow enemies such as Stone Golems, this is not a big problem. On the other hand, a normal speed monster may hit you before you kill/knockback with a third hit. To get around this problem, either fight monsters that you will almost always kill in 1-2 hits, or jump back immediately after the Power Strike instead of starting a third hit. If you are quick, you can spin around in mid-air and land your third hit by the time you hit the ground.

Booster

This is a very important skill if you use two-handed axes. The reason for this is because two-handed axes are the slowest of all weapons available to the Fighter. However, adding points increases the duration and decreases HP/MP cost without making the weapon any faster. For this reason, you only need 5-6 points to start off with, and can add more later. At level 6, it costs 24 HP/MP and lasts for 60 seconds. This skill should probably be taken second or third if you use two-handed axes, and any time you want for other weapons.

At max, consumes ~540 meso an hour. [10 HP/10 MP, 200 second duration]

Rage

This is an extremely useful skill. Once you raise it to level 19-20, it adds 10 Attack Power, which is like having a weapon 10 levels higher. After using Iron Body, the defense penalty is completely negated. After applying multipliers from Power Strike and Slash Blast, this can easily raise your damage by a few hundred per hit. This would make a good second skill if you don't mind spending the extra MP on it.

At max, consumes ~900 meso an hour. [20 MP, 160 second duration]

Power Guard

This is a powerful defensive skill. When you are hit with a touch attack, it reduces the damage done to you by a certain percent and also does that amount of damage to the monster. For example, an attack that would normally do 100 damage to you would do only 60 to you with level 30 Power Guard, and would also do 40 damage to the monster. However, it has a fairly high MP cost and short duration compared with other Fighter spells. This skill will reduce the damage you take by a lot, but also eats up MP pretty quickly and has to be recast often. It's up to you to decide when the HP it saves you is worth the MP and repeated casting.

At max, consumes ~2400 meso an hour. [30 MP, 90 second duration]

Short Overview of 2nd Job Skills

Mastery - Very important and should be maxed first for average damage and accuracy boost.

Final Attack - A second attack that is useful for a free hit with no MP cost.

Booster - A pretty useful skill, but doesn't need many SP in it. Increases attack speed, useful for slower weapons.

Rage - A powerful skill that can give you a pretty large damage boost. Easily around 10-15% when you first max it, depending on your weapon.

Power Guard - A excellent defense skill that reflects up to 40% damage from a touch damage attack.

Tips

Mastery is always first.

Final Attack and Rage should be taken first if you want to kill as fast as possible.

Rage is probably the overall better choice, as long as you don't mind spending MP and either casting Iron Body or taking the defense penalty.

Final Attack doesn't help quite as much, and probably hurts a Slash Blast user. It does save MP, however.

Power Guard is an awesome defensive skill that should be taken if you want to take less damage.

Booster should just be taken whenever you feel you want more speed.

Some of you may already be past 30, but now have realized that you should have added more points to your 1st Job skills, like Power Strike or Slash Blast, and now you're worried. If so, check this out.

You get 121 SP from levels 31-70. You only need 120 SP to max out all weapon skills + Rage and Power Guard.

You can drop 1 point from Mastery, as the last point only adds +1 Accuracy.

You can drop 1 point from Rage, as the last point only adds +6 second duration.

You can drop ~14 points from Booster, as each point only adds duration and lowers HP/MP cost but never actually makes the weapon faster.

This means you have around 17 SP that you can pull out of 2nd Job Advancement skills.

You get 151 SP from levels 71-120.

Increased MP Recovery takes 20 SP to master.

Shield Mastery takes 20 SP to master.

Combo Attack takes 30 SP to master.

Panic/Coma take 30 SP to master each.

Armor Crash takes 30 SP to master.

Shout takes 30 SP to master.

Total, this is 190 SP worth of skills. So, you'll have to drop something here.

Increased MP Recovery, I guess, will be chosen maybe later since it doesn't add anything to your power. This means you can fight longer on a supply of potions, and therefore buy less potions. Adds 30 MP / 10 seconds at level 20. So, you should regenerate 33 MP / 10 seconds at max. Using 1 MP = 2 meso, this saves you 21600 meso per hour if you regen constantly. If you train for 10 hours, you've just saved 216k. Not a lot at those high levels, but it is something...

Shield Mastery will probably be nice, but not necessary. At level 20, it doubles your shield defense. With an Ancient Shield (59 Defense perfect) + 25 Defense from scroll upgrades, you have an 84 defense shield. So, mastered Shield Mastery will result in an extra 84 defense. On the other hand, I'm thinking the average preson isn't going to have something this awesome... so more realistically around 50-60 extra defense. If you are the kind of person who chooses to max out Iron Body for the extra defense, and you use one-handed weapons and shields, you will probably want this skill.

Combo Attack -- build up orbs around you [1 per hit?] which can then be used as multipliers on a finisher attack. also increases damage for the duration, unsure on how it works in conjunction with attack skills.

Panic and Coma are finisher attacks used with Combo Attack. Panic apparently is an extremely powerful hit with a chance to blind the enemy (lower accuracy?) Coma is a multi-target attack that lets you unleash massive damage on up to 6 enemies. The more orbs you have built up from Combo Attack, the more damage these will do. Basically, once charged up, they're ultra-powerful versions of Power Strike and Slash Blast.

Armor Crash removes the Guard Up skill from its target. Higher levels mean less MP used and a higher chance of success.

Shout is an area effect attack. Seems very weak, but it can stun enemies for a while. At level 30, it has just 40% attack power, but a 95% chance to stun for 10 seconds. You can use this to control swarms of enemies while you charge up Combo Attack.

As for what to drop, I'm thinking Shield Mastery almost definitely, and then probably Armor Crash or maybe MP Recovery... Armor Crash you can still raise to 10 and have enough points, but if it turns out to be useful you might want it higher.

Training Guide

Stumped as to where to train? Well, a lot of it depends on how much damage you can do reliably, what kind of skills you are using, how accurate you are, and how much you can afford to spend on potions. So, I will try to make a section later telling about the different monsters and when you should hunt them. To start though, I'll just recommend a few places that I thought were good for leveling.

Hey! I finally came back to MS, and so I thought I'd write a bit more in depth about various training areas for Warriors. Some are pretty nice, while others are just for a break from the norm while picking up decent XP. Haven't been to Ossyria yet, so I can't write about those areas. Also, my Scania character isn't a warrior, so it might not be the most accurate... but I'll get there. I'll try to collect info from warrior friends, too.

MAPLE ISLAND - LEVELS 1+

Snail, Blue Snail, Shroom, Red Snail, Orange Mushroom

Well, if you can't kill these... I just don't know what to tell you. Wait a bit on the mushrooms, but as a warrior they shouldn't be too tough. Fastest leveling involves smacking the Snails and Blue Snails for quick kills.

HENESYS HUNTING GROUNDS - LEVELS 1+

Snail, Blue Snail, Red Snail, Stump, Slime, Orange Mushroom, Green Mushroom

The always-crowded HHG. Head over here if you like crowded KS-fests, and remember to stay away from the Green Mushrooms. Levels II and III are a lot less crowded, although the spawn isn't quite so fast.

HILL EAST OF HENESYS - LEVELS 1+

Blue Snail, Red Snail, Shroom, Slime, Pig, Orange Mushroom

Well, this place doesn't have such a nice layout as others, but it is less popular so you may wish to check here if you just can't stand other low level areas. But, the supply of higher leveled monsters is low so it's not really a good choice, just an alternative.

SLIME TREE - LEVELS 10+

Slime

Head south from Ellinia -- when you reach the large forest [3rd map], head to the left-most tree. May be crowded, but it's packed full of slimes to kill.

THE TREE THAT ROSE - LEVELS 10+

Snail, Stump [level 2 only], Slime

Two maps north of Ellinia, this area has plenty of snails on the bottom floor -- good if you left Maple Island too early. The many levels above contain an ample supply of Slimes. Going one more map up results in the addition of Stumps, but it's not recommended to go to the third level since there are Green Mushrooms there.

MUSHROOM GARDEN - LEVELS 10+

Shroom, Red Snail, Orange Mushroom

A nice, small, two level map, without too much variety of monsters. Since it's a hidden street, it's usually not very crowded, and it's pretty nice if you have 2-3 people sharing the map. Stronger player should be on the bottom, since it's bigger. If soloing, run in a clockwise circle, so that if you jump off the top right, you'll land at the top of the hill. It might not matter much to some, but having high ground tends to help archers and claw thieves a bit.

PIG BEACH - LEVELS 20+

Blue Snail, Red Snail, Pig, Ribbon Pig, Iron Hog

Well, the infamous Pig Beach. In general, a fairly nice place to train with tons of pigs. Main thing to remember here is to keep an eye out for the Iron Hog, and remember that the top has a safe spot near the snails should you need to rest on the top and not change channels.

KERNING CITY CONSTRUCTION SITES [ANY] - LEVELS 1-30+

Heh, well... I'll leave out the monster list for this one, as it refers to a bunch of maps -- specifically the ones around Kerning City. Honestly, these aren't my favorite picks for training, but they can make a nice change of background and targets. They often have weak enemies like snails and Orange Mushrooms near the bottom, but the top contains enemies like Green Mushrooms, Axe Stumps, and Octopi that can make good targets even at level 30.

ANT TUNNEL - 25+

Horned Mushroom. Zombie Mushroom

Horned Mushrooms, with 300 HP and 35 XP, have one of the best HP/XP ratios to be found on anything at this level. But, Zombie Mushrooms are pretty dangerous at lower levels, and ranged players often pick these maps clean. Although I've rated it 25+, I'd more recommend 30+ for safe training here.

MUSHROOM TREE - 25+

Green Mushroom, Horned Mushroom

More mushrooms. If you remember where the slime tree is, head over to the other side of the map. Actually, a lot of Ellinia trees contain mushies and slimes, so you might wanna check them out as you pass by to see if there's a nice spot there.

DAMP FOREST - 25+

Octopus, Jr. Necki

This isn't really the best place to go as a warrior, since Jr. Neckis will be invincible at a good octopus training level. But, if you have someone to kill them for you, the high Octopi spawn rate might be fun.

LAND OF WILD BOAR - 30+

Dark Axe Stump, Wild Boar

Another highly popular, highly crowded training area. There are two of these in Perion, and it seems to be that II is a little less crowded [though this could merely be because it's smaller and father away from Perion]. If you can get a spot, this makes a nice area to level, especially around 35+ when you can one-hit kill these fairly reliably.

hehe... okies, too lazy to finish writing about more training areas. I'll do more later.

>>>NOTE: Did this in a bit of a rush. I'll do a better one when I have time, but for now, you can assume there's a 5 level margin of error or so. In other words, if you are level 43, don't just check the level 40-45 section. Go ahead and look in 35-50, and chose one based on how strong YOU are and how good YOUR equipment is. Don't forget that you can occasionally even hunt for your own equipment if it's expensive.

Levels 1-10 -> Obviously, you are not too strong yet. Just beat on snails, and close to the end, go into a hidden area and fight Orange Mushrooms.

Level 10-15 -> During these levels, you still won't be very strong because you need to work on getting Improving MaxHP Increase here, and you are still using pretty low level equipment. Snails and Slimes are pretty good choices to fight here.

Levels 15-20 -> Now, you are getting a little more power, and also some attack skills. Pigs are a good choice to fight now. You could also continue fighting Slimes.

Levels 20-25 -> You should definitely be strong enough to fight Pigs and Ribbon Pigs with no trouble. You could also hunt Green Mushrooms if you think you'll find a Pan Lid.

Levels 25-30 -> Continue fighting Pigs and Ribbon Pigs. If you have good equipment or want to try something a little harder, you could also try to fight Wild Boars toward the end.

Levels 30-35 -> Congratulations, you have reached the 2nd Job. More Wild Boars is your reward. Also, you may want to try Evil Eyes if you want a Cutlus or White Cross Chainmail.

Levels 35-40 -> Yet more Wild Boars. Don't you feel SO happy? Your alternative hunting choice is Wild Boars. Toward the end, you may also want to try hunting Fire Boars. Depending on equipment, Curse Eyes might also be a good choice.

Levels 40-45 -> You should be strong enough to fight Fire Boars and Curse Eyes with ease. Want an alternative hunting area? Wild Boars. If you have good equipment, perhaps Zombie Lupins? It's a bit hard to get a spot, but 99 EXP isn't too shabby if you kill quickly.

Levels 45-50 -> Fire Boars is still a pretty good choice, and you can also fight Copper Drakes here. Stone Golems with a powerful weapon might get you some good money and drops, and if you are powerful enough to kill a Curse Eye in one hit you can also go there -- if not, the whole two-hit thing will start to slow you down in comparison to other areas.

Levels 50-55 -> Drakes and Stone Golems shouldn't be a problem for you any more. Crocos also yield some nice drops with the same EXP as Stone Golems. You can also try fighting various sealife at Florina Beach, or Cold Eyes, Drakes, and even Wild Cargos in the dungeon.

Levels 55-60 -> Deep in the dungeon continues to be a good training area. At this point, you should be able to hunt even Tauromacis without dying too easily.

Level 60+ -> Since we don't have Ossyria yet, you're kinda stuck. The only monsters left that won't die too easily are things like Red Drakes, Dark Stone Golems, Wild Cargos, Tauromacis/Taurospear, and Jr. Balrog. Just take on whatever you want already.

Weapons

You have to choose which you would like to use, sword or axe. Taking the complete set of skills for BOTH weapons will cost you an additional 70 SP. I don't think you want to waste that, unless you are going for a rather odd build. Of course, don't let that stop you. Break out of the cookie-cutter mold and do something odd. Or not, if you want to be a typical warrior.

Sword

Damage: Higher minimum damage and lower maximum damage. Their damage will be more reliable.

Speed: Swords tend to be faster, although the speed of two-handed swords and axes are fairly even at level 80. Price: Swords and their upgrade scrolls are more expensive than axes.

Axe

Damage: Lower minimum damage and higher maximum damage. Their damage will be less reliable.

Speed: Axes tend to be slower, although the speed of two-handed swords and axes are fairly even at level 80.

Price: Axes and their upgrade scrolls are less expensive than swords.

Weapon Comparisons

I'll directly compare speed, average weapon attack, and the location of the item to help you make decisions on weapon choice at level 30+. First is category, then name, average weapon attack, attack speed, and how to get it. A ??? means that it's shown as dropping from something, but I don't know the name of the monster. Also, some names of monsters that are not currently in-game or on the official site are taken from MapleStory ~ Sauna. If you see a monster that you are not familiar with at all, that's probably why. Also, I am not 100% sure about some of the Yeti/Dark Yeti drops because I'm using A Drop of Maple, a Japanese site; and sometimes it returns the Jr. form, two normal forms, and the Yeti + Pepe form. I'm guessing it's either a normal form or a special form, different than the normal/alone/adult Yeti form and the Growth form, which I'm assuming is referring to "Transforms into a giant Yeti every once in a while." in the Jr. Yeti description on the official site.

Questions

Q: Why doesn't someone make a guide showing how much DEX you need?

A: Because your level has an effect on how often you can hit an enemy. The DEX you need to hit a level 40 monster when you are level 30 is not the same as when you are level 40, or 50, or 60.

Q: Why don't I have as much HP as this other guy at my level? I even got Improving MaxHP Increase as soon as possible!

A: HP gains at each level and Job Advancement are a bit random. It won't be exactly the same, but it should be fairly close.

Q: Do I need to buy MP potions? It's so expensive!

A: You will want to buy lots of MP potions later. The reason is that you will need huge amounts of EXP to level up, and it will take forever to level up with normal attacks. Not only that, but normal attacks can't knockback powerful monsters or hit more than one monster per attack. However, you don't need to buy a lot of them early on. It will help though, since Power Strikes and Slash Blasts will almost always let you kill faster.

Q: How much HP/MP are you supposed to gain at the 2nd Job Advancement?

A: The exact amount is random. However, Fighters get all HP and no MP for their job advancement.

Q: Why not get Improving HP Recovery? 60 HP in 10 seconds seems pretty quick, and it saves you money!

A: Yeah, it saves you money now. But guess what? Higher level monsters do *gasp* MORE damage!?!?!? Yes, you can sit there for 30 seconds and run to get a drink while you heal all the damage you took from those Slimes for the last hour.

Then, you can sit there for a couple minutes trying to recover from that one lightning blast the Tauromacis tossed at you. Still think it sounds good?

Q: You know, a level 10 Power Strike costs just 6 MP for 180% damage. Level 20 Power Strike costs 12 MP, but only does 260% damage! What's up with that? Shouldn't we all just stay with level 10 Power Strike? Same with Slash Blast?

A: Look at it this way. Say your base damage is around 100. Now, you can swing twice and do 180 damage, or you can swing just once and do 260 damage. Now let's say that you are fighting a monster that has 200 or 250 HP. Which one is going to let you kill faster? Later on, you will value increased power and speed over efficiency.
