=SIMSM=

Ok.Maple Story is basically a free MMORPG that was first started
in Korea a while ago.
In Maple Story you kill various enemies to become the strongest.
It may sound a bit boring, but it's actually
quite addicting later in the game when
you have the power to wield a variety of spells,
and you can shape your own way to destroy the enemies.
The magician. In short the magician is a spellcaster
(as in they cast... spells o_o). They are not
meant for physical strength, but they are known for being
able to wipe a map clean without being hurt at all with
long ranged spells.

---
=Creating an Ideal Character=
Keep rolling that dice! The stats of an ideal magician is the best stat is
INT (Intelligence) and second best is LUK (Luck).
Forget about STR (Strength) and DEX (Dexterity).
In other words, 'perfect mages' are those that roll 4 STR and 4 DEX.
An alright character can have 4 STR/5 DEX, 5 STR/4 DEX,
or even 5 STR and 5 DEX. After creating your character, whenever you level
keep your LUK +3 above your level so you have just enough to equip things,
while putting the rest of the points into INT to maximize your damage.

---
=How to become a magician=
To become a magician, you have to go from the
beginning island (Maple Island) to Victoria Island.
But FIRST level up at Maple Island till lvl 8.
Be sure to train INT to at least 20.
Do NOT upgrade anything else
(unless you want to put some points into MP, which is not recommended).
Upon arriving at Victoria Island at Lith Harbor
you have to get to Ellinia (magician town).
There are several ways to getting there.

1. You head east to Henesys (the bowman town)
and then from there keep heading east to Ellinia.
(You know when you arrive from the tree background)
2. Take the cab in Lith Harbor to Ellinia for a fee.
(Double click on the taxi and then select Ellina)
3. Find someone selling a scroll to Ellinia, and trade with them.
Type in /trade 'playersname'.
Go to your inventory depending on the key it's set to,
and go to the 'Use' tab. Find the scroll and double click on it.

When you finally get to Ellinia,
jump/climb to the top of the map. At the top of the map,
enter the house up there.
Talk to the floating old guy and if you followed my directions of being level 8
and having at least 20 INT, congrats! You are now officially a magician.

---
=Skills=
Yay! Now that you are a magician, open up your skills
menu with the button you chose to open it.
When you first become a magician, you are granted one
Skill Point (SP). Put this skill into 'Energy Bolt'.
Click on the arrow next to Energy Bolt just as you would to for stats.
Click and hold on the picture of the Energy Bolt
and drag it to a easily accessible hotkey (same way as you do with items).
Well, every time you level up, you gain THREE (3) WHOLE SP!

Here is the list of skills you can get and what each one does.

HOW TO READ THIS CHART!!
Name of Skill (Master Level [Maxed SP Amt.])- Description

Improving MP Recovery (16)- Each skill point here increases the amount of MP
you regain every 10 seconds by 1.
Every level you automatically get
+1 to MP increase anyways!
This is considered one of the
best skills for magician
because to even CAST skills,
you need MP to do so, when you run out,
you have to wait for
awhile to gain it all back.
This speeds up the process.

Improving Max MP Increase (10)- When you level up, your MP bar increases.
If you put SP into this skill, you gain more MP
when you level up AND whenever you increase
the MP stat, it gives extra MP also.
This skill is locked out at first
and requires you to put in 5 SP into
Improving MP Recovery before
you can start increasing this stat.

Magic Guard (20)- This is a casting spell where if you are hit, the damage
will be taken off of your MP bar instead of your HP,
which is really useful when you have a ton of MP
to spare.

Magic Armor (20)- This spell, when casted,
increases the users defence against weapons.
I never really tested this one out,
but I heard it wouldn't really matter later on in the game.

Energy Bolt (20)- The basic attack spell.
It shoots out blue bolts at your enemies.
Beware, for the MP cost doubles at 11.

Magic Claw (20)- A more advanced and costlier attack spell than Energy Bolt.
This skill and Energy Bolt
is constantly debated at which is better.
Magic Claw I would recommend due to the fact that
it has a low delay time between castings.
It also doubles at 11, but I would still max this out,
because it's sexy >_>.

=Skill Tree=
These are just some samples. You do NOT need to follow a skill tree.
Be unique! Just as long as you have fun. ^^;

Level -- Skill Point Distribution (SP)/Name of Skills

SKILL TREE A
I call this the 'hell' path, or the true path to what people call a 'perfect'

29- 3 SP into Magic Guard
30- 2 SP into Magic Guard (Maxed.), 1 SP into Magic Armor

-
SKILL TREE D
This is for people who like balence in their defence.
It's very interesting, due to it balences Magic Armor and Guard
so that Guard doesn't immediatly drain you out of MP.
I don't recommend this one, as I just created it out of the top
of my head. It does seem practical though.
8- 1 SP into Energy Bolt
9- 3 SP into MP Recovery
10- 2 SP into MP Recovery, 1 SP into MP Increase
11- 3 SP into MP Increase
12- 3 SP into MP Increase

28- 3 SP into Magic Armor
29- 3 SP into Magic Armor
30- 3 SP into Magic Armor

FOR ALL OF THESE SKILL CHARTS, YOU STILL DISTRIBUTE AP BY GOING LUK +3
YOUR LEVEL, WHILE THE REST GET'S DUMPED INTO INT.

---
=Training Spots=
Well, I'm lazy, so i'll just create a little chart.

THE CHART O_O;;

Level 8-12 --> I recommend going after snails
which are EVERYWHERE and Green Slimes
(Located around Ellinia).
Explore around and you should find a tree FULL of slimes
which is 2 maps west of Ellinia.
Level 13-15 --> At this point, you could keep going back to the
slime tree I mentioned or attack those tree-like monsters.
Hitting lower level monsters and killing them
in one hit, while gaining meager experience
is better than spending a minute
attacking a huge monster and wasting your MP.
Trees are located around Ellinia, Henesys,
Perion (Warrior town), and Kerning City (Rogue town).
Level 16-20 --> I would recommend to start going after
those green capped mushrooms
and blue horny mushrooms
(Don't you dare think dirty thoughts >_<).
There are trees around Ellinia filled with safe spots
for you to shoot them at, but most of them are crowded.
You can go back and kill all those weaker monsters too.
Level 21-27 --> Pig Beach.
This info is directly from zephy84 who is a veteran and
played the Korean version for a while.
"Well, Pig Beach is... hard to explain lol.
I'll try my best.
First of all, it can be entered from the map
Three Branched Road, or whatever it is called,
which is between Lyth Harbour, Kerning City and Henesys.
From there you push up at the place
where lots of yellow flowers are.
The flowers are on a small platform which is
located middle-downside.
Well, it would be a little bit hard to find.
There are lots and lots of pigs, ribbon pigs
(even more than east of Henesys) some snails, and ONE IRONHOG.
This ironhog will be respawned every hour or two hours,
but because I guess there are no ones yet to kill it,
so it will be just THERE
Just be careful of the ironhog
and the place is really nice." -Zephy84

Or like all other levels...
Kill the monsters you've been killing before in great numbers.
Also Land of Wild Boar, which is a hidden street is good exp.
(Look at Hidden Street Guide.)
Level 28-30 --> From my personal experiences, I recommend the
'Ant Tunnels' which is
located to the east of Sleepywood
(The place in the center of the map).
Just don't go TOO far into the tunnels
or your doomed. DOOMED O_O

Random Note: Train anywhere where you can kill things with around 1-2 shots,
with decent exp. Or just stay at Henesys Hunting Grounds (HHG)
which is located 1 screen west of Henesys. Also the party quest
in Kerning City is a GREAT place to level.

Check the next section on how to GET to Sleepywood.

=How to Get to Sleepywood=
HELP THANKS TO- chromax, DiabloTerrorGF, and InvalidUser

Lith Harbor- Pay 10k for a VIP taxi. (It's one way and one time).
Now your at the 24 hour store in the middle of the Ant Tunnels.
Either survive and keep going east, or die and
appear in Sleepywood.

Kerning- Go through sewers and head east, ta daa, your there.

Ellinia- VIP taxi (Same as Lith)

Perion- "Dungeon Entrance (Bottom right portal in city area)" -DiabloTerrorGF

Henesys- "Upper right exit. Go straight till you reach Luke, go in,
then go straight and drop down to the gate. Go in.
Bing, you're there." -InvalidUser

Anywhere- Find someone with a Sleepywood scroll
and buy it from them, then use it.

TIP- Bring a scroll with you to teleport back to a town >_<
(Ellinia, Perion, Henesys, etc.)
Unless you want to go through a forest of doom to go back.
Or pay for an overpriced scroll.

=After Magician=

Well now that your level 30, your now allowed to move up
ANOTHER rank *cheering*! First, go back to Ellinia and talk to
that old guy (Hines). He tell's you to go talk to someone in the
north forest by Ellinia. Go to screens north and travel all the way
to the top. There should be an old hobo (why else would he live
in a tree?) that look's slightly like Gandalf. Talk to him, and
he will ask what class you want to advance to. There should be
a fire/poison, lightning/ice, and cleric choices. Choose one
and keep adventuring!
